Renewing The Mind

I would like to talk with you on renewing the Christian mind. Much has been said about this subject. I believe the renewing of the mind is a twofold process.

First a revelation of Christ. Second a removal of old mindsets brought on by worldly or religious thinking.

Religious thinkers encourage a form of Godliness but deny its power. An example of this would be the Scribes and Pharisees of Jesus' day. They were always challenging Him concerning what was lawful, caring little for the truth or life which people were receiving. If our minds are not constantly being renewed to a present truth, we will suffer the same fate. We all deal with mindsets, which can only be overcome by a revelation of Christ. The Holy Spirit takes that revelation and removes those mindsets. Revelation without removal makes everyone get excited but we never accomplish anything. Any attempt at removal with a revelation of Christ causes people to try to live a disciplined lifestyle and become constantly frustrated. We must have both. This revelation is what Paul prayed for in Ephesians, (1:17-23). Most ministers will refer to Romans chapter 12, verses 1 and 2, concerning this subject of renewal.

Let's look at this passage in verse 2. It says to be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Here is a little formula.

Renewal=Transformation=Conformity to Christ.
Renewal -A revelation of Christ causing a removal of old mindsets.
Transformation - We start thinking more like God thinks.
Conformity - We begin to act like and manifest Christ in our daily walk.

Here is one example: Renewal _ I begin to see that I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, that is revelation, (II Corn. 5:21). An unworthy mentality is then removed.

Transformation - I begin to see by degree that I have been made a king and priest in Christ unto God, (Rev. 1:6). Another way of saying it is we're being changed from glory to glory into the image of Christ, (II Corn. 3:18).

Conformity - I realize I have something in my hand to feed the world, which is bread and wine, the body and blood of Christ. This is a message of hope and freedom.

There are many more examples but please understand the renewing of the mind does not come by human effort. It comes by letting. Let this mind be in you, which is also in Christ Jesus, (Phil. 2:5). Be renewed in the spirit of your mind, (Eph. 4:25). The new man is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him, which created him, (Col. 3:10). We must allow the knowledge of the born-again man to renew our mind! Knowing this makes casting down imaginations a lot simpler. The holy Spirit is present to do just that. The Melchizedek priesthood will walk in a renewed mind. Glory to God!
